Power production duo SLANDER recently released “Potions,” hooking up with Colorado’s Said The Sky and singer-songwriter JT Roach.
After teasing the track on social media and performing it during live shows, including their appearance on the main stage at Ultra Music Festival, as well as at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, where they invited Said The Sky out to perform it, the duo decided to put “Potions” out there.
The video relates the poignant tale of a young man remembering his relationship with a young woman. Heartbroken, he keeps taking a magic potion trying to change the past.
SLANDER have been turning out hit after hit this year, collaborating with Gryffin and Callie Lehmann on “All You Need To Know,” and Dylan Matthews on “Love Is Gone.” Now the Los Angeles-based duo has transformed their Gud Vibrations sound into a record label, teaming up with NGHTMRE, with whom they will be touring this fall, along with Seven Lions, and The Glitch Mob.
“Potions” opens on tender colors topped by Roach’s gentle evocative tones, infusing the tune with warm affectionate nostalgia, lingering and almost elusively beautiful. When the rhythm enters on a thumping kick drum and shimmering synths, the harmonics take on potency, but then drop back to low-slung dynamics full of sumptuous emotions of regret, and intense passion.

As the video unfolds, the young man imbibes the potion repeatedly, hoping it will allow him to repair the last horrible moments he spent with his paramour.
“Potions” is sublimely superb, full of delicious sonic textures and a galvanizing rhythmic pulse, all crowned by the alluring voice of JT Roach.
